If you're really a 'foodie'... restaurants in Srinagar aren't necessarily the way to go. I agree with Mughal Darbar for consistently decent traditional fare. For something a little more interesting, still on Boulevard Rd., across from Nehru Park down a side street is a Tibetan restaurant called Llasa. Its family runs with nice outdoor garden seating. On Residency Rd. there's another gem called Samci with excellent quality food, slow but professional service, and more local dishes.
